Practical sessions in Pathology

Practical (Respiratory system): identify gross and microscopic features of pulmonary tuberculosis, pneumonia, bronchiectasis, and bronchogenic carcinoma.

Practical (CVS): Identify the microscopic features of myocardial infarction, rheumatic carditis, atherosclerosis, aneurysm, Buerger’s disease

Practical (GIT and hepatobiliary):

  • Identity the gross features of sialadenitis, appendicitis, cholecystitis, cholelithiasis, peptic ulcer, intussusception, volvulus, cirrhosis, adenocarcinoma of stomach, colon and rectum
  • Identify the microscopic features of sialadenitis, pleomorphic adenoma, gastritis, appendicitis, cholecystitis, peptic ulcer, T.B. intestine, squamous cell carcinoma of oral cavity, esophagus, adenocarcinoma of stomach, colon, rectum, and colonic polyp

Practical (Renal/electrolyte system): Identify the gross and microscopic features of chronic pyelonephritis, urolithiasis, hydronephrosis, renal cell carcinoma, Wilm’s tumor and transitional cell/urothelial carcinoma of bladder

Practical (Reproductive and Endocrine system):

  • Identify the gross and microscopic features of endometrial carcinoma, leiomyoma, ectopic pregnancy, cervical polyp, squamous cell carcinoma of cervix, serous and mucinous tumors of ovary, hydatidiform mole and choriocarcinoma
  • Identify the gross and microscopic features of seminoma, embryonal carcinoma of testis, squamous cell carcinoma of penis and microscopic features of benign prostatic hyperplasia and carcinoma of prostate
  • Identify the gross and microscopic features of fibrocystic disease, fibroadenoma and infiltrating ductal carcinoma of breast
  • Identify the gross and microscopic features of goiter, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, follicular adenoma and carcinoma of thyroid
